Jardin du Palais Royal is the garden surrounding the former French royal palace known as the Palais-Royal. The complex stands on Rue Saint-Honoré in Paris's 1st arrondissement, with its screened entrance court facing the Place du Palais-Royal opposite the Louvre.

The garden's setting is inseparable from the palace's layered history. Originally called the Palais-Cardinal, the palace was built for Cardinal Richelieu from about 1633 to 1639 by the architect Jacques Lemercier. Richelieu bequeathed it to Louis XIII, and Louis XIV later gave it to his younger brother, Philippe I, Duke of Orléans. The succeeding Dukes of Orléans made extensive alterations, so almost nothing remains of Lemercier's original design.

Jardin du Palais Royal's modern fashion connection was further cemented by designers such as Virgil Abloh. During Paris Fashion Week on June 21, 2018, Abloh unveiled a polychromatic menswear collection for Louis Vuitton in the Palais Royal gardens.

The presentation used a hand-painted, 200-meter-long rainbow runway. Abloh described it as a “gradient painting”, inspired by the dream-like land of The Wizard of Oz. Models walked along it wearing mohair suit jackets and crocodilian leather harnesses.
